Explore Adventures Peru makes it a priority to travel responsibly. Whenever we can, we buy locally grown products and foods and donate leftover foods and goods to charities. We recycle in locations where recycling exists and practice the principles of Leave No Trace (pack it in, pack it out). And we contract with local business services at every opportunity.
1.- EMPOWERING PERUVIAN WOMEN
We connect Andean artisan weavers with global markets, and empower women and girls with education and financial independence. We work with families of Patacancha - willoq communities of Cusco, they are the hosts and responsible for the entire operation that takes place in their homes and we are providing constant training. In this way we are empowering, improving the quality of life and contributing to the economy of each of these people
2.- PORTER WELFARE
We take porter welfare very seriously and do our best to ensure our staff is treated well. As a partner company of Inca Trail Porters, we comply with all established guidelines on porter wages and welfare. We pay our porters more than the standard compensation. Our porters have proper food and shelter, and their loads are restricted to reasonable weight limits.
3.-COMMUNITY GRANTS
Explore Adventures Peru community grants provide funding for grassroots projects in the communities we visit. Grants have funded reforestation projects, indigenous youth festivals and education, operations at a women's shelter, shelter for alpacas shepers, village homestays, clothes for andean kids, and a conservation of traditional handicraft techniques.
